Markdown
Markdown lets you format text by typing normal characters. For example, when you type **bold**, Dushed shows bold.
You can use Markdown in these places:
- The title and the body of a note.
- The question, the answer, and the comments of a flashcard.
- The comments of a bookmark, a web feed, or a file.

Headings
Start a line with one to six # characters, then a space. One # makes the largest heading.

Links
[Dushed](https://dushed.com)
When a web address starts with https:// or www., Dushed makes it a link.
Lists
For a list, start each line with -. For a numbered list, start each line with a number and a full stop.
- Milk
- Bread
1. Open the box.
2. Take out the book.
Task lists
Start each line with - [ ] for a task that is not done, or with - [x] for a task that is done. Dushed shows a checkbox for each task. You cannot select the checkbox on the page. To change a task, edit the text.
- [x] Buy milk
- [ ] Read chapter 3
Quotes
Start each line with >.
> The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
Code
Put the code between two lines of three backticks. After the first three backticks, write the name of the language. Dushed colours the code when it shows a note or a flashcard.
```go
fmt.Println("hello")
```
Tables
Separate the columns with |. The second line separates the column names from the rows.
| Country | Capital |
|---|---|
| Belgium | Brussels |
| Chile | Santiago |
Footnotes
A footnote adds a note at the end of the text. Put a label such as [^1] where you want the note number. Then, on a line of its own, write the same label, a colon, and the note. Dushed shows the notes at the end of the text, under Footnotes.
The Nile is the longest river in Africa.[^1]
[^1]: It is about 6,650 km long.
Images
You can show an image in a note, or in the question, the answer, or the comments of a flashcard.
- In File references, choose the image, for example
africa-map.png. - In the text, write
. The text in the square brackets describes the image for people who cannot see it. - Save the note or the flashcard.
To use an image that you uploaded before, add its address in Dushed to URL references. Then use the name of the file in the image.
Rules for images:
- The image must be a file that you upload to Dushed. If the text has an image from another website, Dushed does not save it and shows an error.
- Put the image on a line of its own. Do not put it in a list, a quote, or a table, because Dushed does not show images in those places.
- The name in the image does not have to use the same capital letters as the file. Dushed also treats spaces, hyphens, and underscores in the name as the same.
