Flashcards

A flashcard has a question and an answer. When you review a flashcard, you tell Dushed how well you remembered the answer. Dushed uses your rating to choose when to show that flashcard again. This method is called spaced repetition. Dushed uses the FSRS spaced repetition algorithm.

To add, edit, review, or import flashcards, you need the Pro plan or the trial. On the Free plan, you can still browse, export, and delete your flashcards. See Pricing.

Add a flashcard

  1. In the menu, open Flashcards, then Add.
  2. Type the question and the answer. You can use Markdown in both.
  3. If you want, add tags.
  4. If you want, open References and comments, and add references or comments. During a review, comments stay hidden until you open them.
  5. Select Save flashcard. Dushed opens the new flashcard.

To show an image in a flashcard, see Images.

Review flashcards

  1. In the menu, open Flashcards, then Review.
  2. Read the question and try to remember the answer.
  3. Select Show answer.
  4. Choose how well you remembered:
    • Forgot: your answer was incorrect, or you forgot it.
    • Good: your answer was correct, but it took effort.
    • Easy: your answer was correct, with no effort.
  5. Select Save rating. Dushed shows the next due flashcard. When no more flashcards are due, Dushed opens the Dashboard.

Next to each rating, Dushed shows when the flashcard will be due again if you choose that rating.

Review shows the due flashcards one at a time, in a random order. The Review page and the Dashboard show how many flashcards are due today, tomorrow, and the next day.

Custom review

Custom review lets you review a set of flashcards that you choose. For example, you can review the flashcards that have one tag, or the flashcards that are due next week.

  1. In the menu, open Flashcards, then Custom review.
  2. Choose the flashcards:
    • Tags: Dushed includes flashcards that have all the tags that you select. To include all your flashcards, select default.
    • Minimum difficulty: Dushed includes flashcards with this difficulty or higher. Difficulty is a number from 0 to 10 that Dushed calculates from your ratings. A higher number means a harder flashcard.
    • Last review on or after: Dushed includes flashcards that you last reviewed on or after this date. It always includes flashcards that you have never reviewed.
    • Due on or before: Dushed includes flashcards that are due on or before this date.
  3. Select Start custom review.
  4. Rate each flashcard in the same way as in Review. Your ratings change the due dates.

To choose different flashcards, select Change card selection.

Browse flashcards

Browse lets you look through your flashcards without rating them. It does not change the due dates.

  1. In the menu, open Flashcards, then Browse.
  2. Choose the flashcards in the same way as in Custom review.
  3. Select Start browsing.
  4. Select Show answer to see the answer. Select Next card to go to the next flashcard.

To choose different flashcards, select Change selection.

Review, Custom review, and Browse do not show suspended flashcards.

Edit, suspend, or delete a flashcard

  1. Open the flashcard. To do this, select Manage card in the card details during Review, Custom review, or Browse.
  2. To change the flashcard, select Edit. Make your changes, then select Save changes.
  3. To suspend the flashcard, select Edit, select Suspend this card, then select Save changes. A suspended flashcard does not show in Review, Custom review, or Browse. To show it again, clear Suspend this card and save.
  4. To delete the flashcard, select Delete. Type yes, then select Delete flashcard. You cannot undo this.

Import and export flashcards

In the menu, open Flashcards, then Import / export.

You can import these files:

File What it contains
.tar A Dushed flashcard export.
.csv One flashcard on each row.
.apkg An Anki package.

You can choose more than one file. Together, the files must not be larger than 30 MB.

When you import flashcards:

  • Each imported flashcard starts as a new flashcard. Dushed does not keep the review history, the due dates, or the suspended state from the file.
  • Dushed skips a flashcard if you already have one with the same question and answer.

CSV files

The first row must contain the column names. The file must have a question column and an answer column. It can also have comments, tags, and references columns.

Anki packages

Dushed builds the question and the answer of each flashcard from the card templates in the package. It keeps the text and the tags, but removes the HTML formatting. It does not import images or sounds.

Export

You can export all your flashcards as cards.tar or cards.csv. The .tar file also contains the files that your flashcards refer to. At this time, Dushed does not add those files to your library when you import a .tar file.
